Job placement
With partners from Greater West Town Project, we screen resumes and send only the most qualified candidates. Job candidates are displaced workers from local manufacturing companies who have closed or downsized, motivated entry-level employees or graduates of industrial skills training programs such as:
- Shipping and Receiving: GWTP places graduates from this full-time 12 week program. The curriculum includes hands-on training on UPS Online, RF Scanner, computerized inventory control, forklift operations and certifications, shipping & receiving procedures, warehouse operations and the 10-hour OSHA safety training course and certification.
- Woodworking Training Program: Graduates of GWTP’s Woodworking and Solid Surface Fabrication program, a full-time, 14-week program are available to be interviewed. This program trains students in cabinetmaking, millwork, furniture making and CNC machines.

English As A Second Language (ESL)
Through our partners at Chicago Workforce Institute (formerly Truman College Business and Industry Services), GNCDC offers onsite ESL training at area companies. Class content is customized to the needs of the workplace and improves the performance and promotability of many employees. Interested companies should contact Deborah Smith for details. An off-site class for employees of area companies without onsite programs will also be available.
